Aging at Work in the Teaching Profession: An Analysis Involving the Ergonomic Model and the Activities System Model

This article discusses the advantages of combining the ergonomics model and the activities system model to tackle questions regarding aging at work in the teaching profession, gender being one of the key elements to be considered. It will show the need for teachers to adapt using different regulation strategies, choosing to manage their time differently in the workplace but also their time outside work in order to “hold on until retirement.” It will address the fact that it seems more difficult and wearing for women to find a good work-life balance, causing premature fatigue. This work leads us to propose a better integration of health and gender dimensions in the activities system model.
