The power of computing, a force of control? A critique of the “enhanced organization”

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2020. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This article discusses organizations “enhanced” by artificial intelligence and proposes a critical reading of them in light of the concept of control. Based on an anthropological documentary study bringing together recent international literature of a prospective or strategic nature produced by public agencies, researchers, firms, and essayists, it deconstructs the system of power that emerges. Its dialectic brings out an organizational dystopia that describes a dehumanization of organizations, immediately mediated by a managerial utopia that rehumanizes the worker. Dystopia involves three forms of control: over machines, over algorithms, and over the center. Utopia mobilizes three other forms: humanist, Darwinian, and ethical. The article concludes with a discussion of the place of the humanities within this context.
