The occupational health consultation: A transitional space within the institution grappling with New Public Management

Our society faces a conflicting tendency: institutions are simultaneously sought-after and rejected. Given the significant need for assistance, strategies waver between necessary affiliation and distrust. After a description of some of the theoretical bases of our support devices, we aim to explain our positioning within the institution as a guarantee of neutrality, seriousness, and authenticity. Psychologists are entangled in paradoxical movements: they try to liberate themselves from these movements in order to achieve neutrality, and they affiliate themselves with both the institution and the beneficiaries of their devices. The occupational health consultation must guarantee the psychological safety of employees. What collusions or antagonisms do psychologists face? What is the relative importance of the diverse values of the institution, the public service, the psychologist, and the expectations of employees?
