The group as a space of conflictualization of femininity and masculinity in adolescence

The authors, professors and clinical psychologists, address the mobilization of femininity and masculinity in adolescence based on observations from their respective practices in different therapeutic groups. The authors will study how adolescents seize this type of space, framed by adults, in an attempt to connect, on the one hand, social stereotypes about femininity, masculinity, virility, and sensuality, and, on the other hand, the contradictory currents and desires they face. These elements are fundamental for a better understanding of the dynamics of adolescent groups. These groups can thus be conceived as a place of conflict between the feminine and masculine parts and positions of psychic life, providing representations that can be subjectively appropriated by the adolescent.
