Artists and the ecological crisis: Transforming the way we create?

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : To say that the ecological crisis requires that we change our ways of imagining the world has become quite banal, leading to various demands to be met in particular by artists. The author of this article studies the ways in which the work of artists is challenged by this issue. She bases her investigation on several interviews conducted with committed artists as part of an overall study on the ecological transition of the live performance sector, as well as on meetings with members of an artistic third place. She points out several important questions raised about how, in this new context, artistic work can be organized as well as recognized, and the extent to which artistic professional identities are questioned. She thus puts forward the idea that the scale of the challenge invites us to rethink both the place occupied by artists and the very nature of creative processes, in an approach that is certainly aesthetic, but also political.
