“Save me from the lion’s mouth and the buffalo’s horn”: to interpret verse 22 of Psalm 22 (21), we will first place it in the context of this Psalm within the Psalter. We will try to understand the presence of three animals, the lion, the dog and the bull (or unicorn). Finally, we will look at the meaning Jesus might have given to this verse when, according to tradition, he prayed the psalm on the cross.
