In spite of the wariness that French political parties provoke today, particularly among adolescents and young adults, some members of this group continue to get involved in a militant, and even a very intense way in youth organizations of the various political parties. How do these young people deal with the end of the adolesent process and their entry into adulthood when they become involved in such institutions? What are the psychic stakes of political engagement at post adolescence? The case study of a 22-year-old militant female will be presented in this article in order to address the unconscious motivations which have led her into this active role in one such political organization and the functions of this engagement.
