Iraqi Shiite militias quickly mobilised after the Iraqi army was defeated by Daesh in 2014. They minimise the role played by the United States in the current defeats over the jihadist organisation. They look to play a role in the future of Iraq, and investing particularly in the field of education. These militias are far from united. While some have clear affiliations with Iran, others have more distant relations with Tehran.
