Camus and His Teacher. The Republican Pedagogy of M. Bernard: Is It Obsolete?
Type de matériel :
48
In his novel Le premier homme (The First Man), Camus presents M. Bernard’s approach to teaching. Finkielkraut regards this as a picture of what was done in the interwar years but which would no longer be possible today. However, in this paper, the author maintains that M. Bernard’s teaching is innovative, even if in some aspects it is characteristic not of the “republican school”? or of “republican teaching methods,”? but of a particular type of Third Republic school in France. This is an unusual republican teaching approach that, being a pedagogy of brotherhood, remains relevant today.
