This article clarifies the educational programs of the Front populaire ivoirien (FPI) proposed by the Minister of National Education in January 1999. Following measures inspired by a spirit of revenge, supposedly reflective of the “Republic of the Professors,” we now have a counter-program that allegedly reflects “the planters.” Gbagbo’s regime faces an enormous number of teachers and students who have taken refuge in the south of the country. At the same time, rebel movements are organizing educational administration in the north. While the latter are localized and are still developing, this trend points towards the territorialization of educational policy in the country.
