The internationalization of the women’s cause faces one great challenge: conceiving of its plurality, as the somehow difficult integration of the African women’s movements illustrates. The participation of Malian women in activities related to the women’s cause in the 2007 World Social Forum in Nairobi reveals some appropriation patterns of an international cause. These women’s “moderate” framing of the cause is a sign of their “translocal positionality,” shaped by the constraints arising from the internationalization of their activism.
