Jean-Louis Le Moigne’s long and rich academic career led him to explore a wide range of management topics. While most of these are widely known and discussed, his interest in logistical issues is still often underestimated, if not ignored. This is even more surprising given that Jean-Louis Le Moigne’s industrial career was characterized by a strong involvement in logistics management during his time at Shell France, with subsequent publications testifying to an undiminished interest. This article sheds light on the “reliance” between Jean-Louis Le Moigne and logistics, to better understand how supply chains should be considered as complex systems, on the one hand, and the importance of analyzing the dynamics of supply chains through the links built up between their members, on the other.
