The acceleration of remote working prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic has made digital transformation a matter of survival for SMEs. In this context, authentic leadership is essential. However, since technology adoption is subject to cultural influences, this article analyzed the influence of national culture on the relationship between authentic leadership and digital transformation using the Bass model. Our methodology was based on a systematic literature review. Our results showed that, in a collectivist culture, keeping one’s word, mutual aid, and solidarity are levers to be mobilized by authentic leaders in their digital strategy. Conversely, conformism is to be avoided. However, the leader myth and the cult of secrecy, which can bring about both beneficial and detrimental effects, must be approached with caution, otherwise digital transformation may end in failure, causing the company to suffer.
