The Intellectual Haze of the National Front

The relationships between the National Front and the intellectual milieu have always been shaped more by politics than by doctrinal affinities. The “first National Front” brought together groups with different leanings while at the same time trying to appear as the only coherent “right-wing” party. Marine Le Pen’s “de-demonized” National Front has abandoned ambiguous references to the Second World War, and presents itself as a social, republican and sovereignist party, which leads it to make frequent use of authors and artists from the left without rallying their support.
