Mobilizing Students in an Investigation into Polling Places

This article highlights a joint experience of exit polls questionnaires transfer involving students, and which took place in the framework of an ethnographic survey related to politicization inequalities. Pointing in a reflexive way the interests and the limits of our quantitative materials production’s approach, the text opens up the « empirical practices black box”. Indeed, it concretely addresses the process allowing to set up a group of students dedicated to QSU transfers in the framework of the three 2014 elections in France. This unusual exchange of practices, « tricks » and know-how related to surveys around polling stations is carried out within the scope of the joint reflections on reliable survey materials production in the contemporary context of the low level of research funding.
