This article seeks to study the processes and strategies related to the merger of two French regions (Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées) and the construction of the new region (Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée) resulting from it. It focuses on regional elected representatives and administrative services faced with the multiple organizational and political challenges of this territorial recomposition. The new regional president has sought to respond in several ways: through a reorganization of structures and practices, the launch of a number of policies, the founding of a “Territorial Assembly,” and a strategy to enhance the role of the elected officials of the new region.
