“Mayorability” in political posters

Election campaign posters develop arguments and demonstrations, introduce the candidates, bring together their supporters, express expertise or competence, set out values and convictions, etc. “Mayorability” is the claim to a license to exercise the political mandate that can be read in the candidate’s campaign posters. Based on a corpus of 300 posters from the 2020 municipal elections, the study provides information on the repertoires of electoral actions mobilized by the candidates according to the electoral context, partisan affiliations, power relations and candidate’s political careers.
