How Does One Become a Mother Via an Egg Donation?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2013. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Egg donation allows some infertile women, as well as women who want to avoid the risk of transmitting a genetic disease, to become pregnant and give birth to a child. This technique of medically-assisted procreation offers us the chance to think about how these women prepare themselves for motherhood. With the help of studies carried out on egg donation, we have developed the hypothesis that such pregnancies can often be a time for the development of the experiment of infertility and egg donation. Through interviews with nine infertile women during their 7th or 8th month of pregnancy, we have highlighted the nature of the psychic problematics mobilized by the figure of the donor and the impossibility of transmitting these women’s genetic filiation. We will discuss the reasons why the development time for this experiment is variable in such pregnancies.
