From individual to group: The place and function of rhythm in adolescent identity readjustments
Type de matériel :

In this article we study the place and the function of rhythm in adolescent identity readjustments. Firstly, we review the existing literature on the role played by rhythms (instinctual, corporeal, and musical) in identity construction through the prism of the babies/teenagers dynamic, and on the place of music within the psychic space of adolescents. We illustrate our proposal through a case study (individual and group-based) of research we carried out within a “sonic improvisation” group in a day hospital for adolescents. By way of a reflection oriented specifically toward rhythm, we try to demonstrate the “evaluative” and “therapeutic” importance of this kind of mediation when working with adolescents.
