After evoking the phenomena of encounter, love at first sight and homecoming, the authors propose to consider the encounter from the angle of the emergence of a representation of the links to the object. The concept of object representation now must be decondensed into the representation of the place of the object, the representation of the links to the object and finally the representation of the object as such, representational levels that are undoubtedly established successively during very early development. After this, the place of time and mourning within encounters and homecoming is before André Breton’s concept of “Amour fou” is considered in the light of the concept of the disappointing object studied by René Roussillon.
