Using an online discussion forum: Continuing and taming a practice during a lockdown

The following article presents an original way to use an online discussion forum: to illustrate the subjects that are the main concerns for drug users, on the one hand by differentiating viewing numbers for each subject and on the other hand by distinguishing those which are only read from those which are both widely consulted and written. The French Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addictions (OFDT) set up an agreement with Psychoactif.org, which is dedicated to psychoactive products—legal and illicit—to inform it about the monitoring undertaken on its viewings via the RAPSODI program (Reading activity about psychoactive substances on online discussions). The monitoring undertaken in 2020—a year marked by the lockdown from March to May—shows the most popular forum to be the one used to stay informed of the cannabis market. Obtaining opioids and the delivery of opioid substitution therapy (OST) is the second-most consulted subject, but also the most written about. Implicitly, the management of daily consumption practices is a particularly salient subject and refers to the difficulties and levers to stabilize them.
