After thirty years of attempts to evacuate crack-dealing scenes, a new consensus is emerging on the ineffectiveness of repression, which by itself will not solve the problem in Paris. We believe it is possible to gradually modify the scene to make it less violent and less precarious, with proposals adapted to the lifestyles of crack users. We describe here a singular experience, that of Espoir Goutte dʹOr, a collective experiment through which users and professionals work together with a view to creating spaces for dialogue and improving the daily lives of people affected by crack. This experience involves accepting to develop in an adverse environment where conflict is a very important element.
