The clinical dimension of craving in alcoholism psychotherapeutics
Type de matériel :
29
Cravings – overwhelming urges to drink – are the object of recurring struggle for most individuals trying to treat their alcohol addiction. Thinking of the addiction as a solution that simultaneously erases all representations of the original anguish, listening to the cravings psychoanalytically could enable the work of psychic figurability often necessary to overcome this addiction. This strong urge to drink may be thought of as a psychic trace thanks to which, in the course of psychotherapy, the issues and the meaning of this dependence may reveal themselves.
