While relatively few economists commit to a political career in France, after 1960, the field of politics became an objective outlet for rival forms of economic expertise. In this space, careers passing through the Ministry of Finance remain temporally and spiritually dominant, diffusing a doxa which appears quite stable, staying the same through changes in circumstances and governments.
