And I I love sociology more and more

I do not share the pessimistic observations on which this dossier is based: the domination of economy over the other social sciences does not seem to me in any way proven, and I neither subscribe to the temptation of a hegemonism of sociology, neither to the aspiration to monism regarding sociological schools, nor to the need to unify the discipline by its objects or concepts. Meanwhile it seems to me essential to aim for a unification by research postures, in order to push sociology towards its maximum of specificity: investigation, neutrality, and openness to the comprehensive approach in order to relativize the importance of explanation. Taking seriously this comprehensive perspective goes hand in hand with several approaches tested in part of the French sociology of the last generation: the pragmatic approach, the approach by tests, the grammatical approach, the typological approach, and the actors’ reflexivity approach. This means a return to Weber’s lesson, which at the same time offers the conditions for a sociology turned to the future – a sociology that might make us love sociology more and more.
