The Air Force had the benefit of American aid for its reconstruction, and at the same time its doctrine was changed under the direction of General Bouscat by separating it from the authority of the Army and General Giraud, and their obsolete ideas over the use of the air arm. This rearmament led to a period of modernisation which was achieved after 1945.
