From the 18th century the British Empire adopted a grand strategy which allowed it to build upon and maintain the ambitions of London. Clearly, the United Kingdom is no longer the imperial power that it was at the end of the 19th century, but the doctrine of grand strategy remains central. Despite some of its decisions—Brexit, for example—London has many advantages and the will to prepare for the future.
