Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : This paper employs the theoretically based and empirically robust gravity model of trade to analyze the effects of numerous North-North and North-South trade agreements in terms of services. In particular, we focus on twenty-three individual trade agreements for services. We use a worldwide sample spanning the period 1985–2016 with aggregated and disaggregated data for nine services sectors (transport, travel, communications, IT, construction, finance, insurance, personal, cultural, and recreational services, other business services). From this data, we estimate trade creation and trade diversion effects at the level of the services trade. We also examine the impact of the depth of these services trade agreements through WTO-X provisions. The results indicate that these services trade agreements have different effects and can vary depending on the regions, the sectors they cover, and their depth.
