The objective of this article is to analyze the health issues of SME managers as a success variable through, thirty-five semi-structured interviews conducted with SME managers. The analyses carried out show that the main health issues lie in the attitude of the manager towards his/her health and the contradictory expectations of the stakeholders in terms of the outcome of the transactions. If the psychosociological analysis carried out has a relevant explanatory power, it does not offer a satisfactory theoretical framework to account for the importance of the health of SME managers to sustain company operations.
