Health and the Humanization of Man: A Utopia?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2010. Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Does the modern healthcare system still ensure the patient’s dignity? ”Keep the patient informed“ – but what exactly does that mean? What are the limits of the ”quality approach“ and the T2A (Tarification à l’activité – a system of financing healthcare establishments in France)? The care of patients has been deeply modified by these reforms. Aristotle’s phronesis remains the solution.Today, healthcare operates in a context of the globalisation of illnesses and their treatments. So what about the specific and the individual? Our awareness of the reign of neurophysiology, strangely related to the need to believe, makes the question even more pertinent. It explains today’s drift towards the secularisation of healthcare, which overlooks the subject in order to provide better care for the population. Moreover, the growing reference to human sciences in the teaching of ethics and theology prevents us from taking effective action against such trends.
