Evictions in a foreign land (Matthew 8:28‒9:1): A story of failure
Type de matériel :

Matthew 8:28‒9:1 borrows an exorcism story from one of its sources (Mark 5:1‒21). He sets the action in Gadara located in Decapolis. He significantly reduces the original version and this editorial work testifies to his own theological guidelines. The spatial figures, the movements and the miracle worker’s success are really valued. These elements argue in favor of a reversal of the usual salvation understanding inherited from Judaism. This contribution interprets this episode in pagan land as an anticipation story preparing its audience to a required border crossing.
