Christic morality according to Olivier Clément

Confronted from an early age with existential questions in the face of the anguish of the nothingness of death, Olivier Clément began a spiritual quest that led him from the formal and abstract ethics of “secular” moralism to the ethics of the Resurrection, which we have called “Christic ethics”. This approach is developed here in three stages. The first consists in asking why it is necessary to approach ethics from a Christ-centred perspective. The second presents the theological elements on which Clément based this ethic centred on the God-Man Christ. The third stage considers the applications of such an ethic to the themes of the contemplation of the world, the service of others, and the supreme creation of man.
