The need for Christian morality to develop a deeper understanding of the ethics of risk in the face of health and ecological threats was suggested to us by the beginning of a reflection by the Pontifical Academy for Life published on the occasion of the Covid-19 pandemic. The present article seeks to provide some points of reference on this topic by considering term-by-term the goal of “taking risks together in the face of threats to health and the environment”. Our analysis moves forward in dialogue with the work of philosophers and specialists in the human sciences as well as with practitioners involved in the understanding and prevention of risks. We will argue for a shift from risk management to the moral confrontation of actual threats that draws upon the resources provided by the assurance of faith.
