Second-wave feminism in the United States has had a strong influence on gay male politics and mobilization. While feminism and gay movement can at times appear to be contiguous and intrinsically linked, both ideologically and strategically, they tend - more fundamentally - to intersect. A feminist approach to sexuality in particular holds great potential for developing a feminist gay ethos, and triggering a politics of male homosexuality which avoids reifying identity in social movement.
