The author, referring to the Correspondence of Sigmund Freud and Sandor Ferenczi, proposes that Ferenczi's reproaches of Freud concerning a "non-analyzed negative transference" during the final years of their relationship might be linked to a primary depression, transformed into a "transference depression" which seems to have given rise to numerous concepts whose traces have deeply marked psychoanalysis.;
