Delving into the role played by the “perceptual” in Pierre Marty’s work leads the author to comparisons found in Freud’s writing in the early days of psychoanalysis. This paper will show the importance that Pierre Marty attributed to the converging association of perceptual elements at the beginnings of psychosomatic practice. Marty therefore enlarged the scope of the Freudian method to include character neurosis and non-neurotic states.
