Following Freud’s career chronologically, the author shows how the theory of the dream-work and the theory of the work of delirium develop in parallel throughout his career, resembling each other while being differentiated, until the moment when, having been sufficiently established, they begin to operate at different levels of functional integration of the Ego and its objects, its relations to reality and to truth.
