The Failure of the Work of Culture in the Anomie of Social Fragmentation
Type de matériel :

The social bond is established in culture; its function is to maintain the restriction of the drives and to include the person through and in a symbolic enmeshing that brings about his existence as a subject. Conversely, the anomie that characterises the failure of meaning in social fragmentation breaks the symbolic bonds and attacks the intermediate psychic structures between the individual and the socius. The work of culture is then led to fail in a fundamental way, since the possible benefits of culture disappear while the strong pressure for the drive renunciation remains. This is then a guaranteed failure comparable to the task of draining the Zuiderzee.
