Even Before Psychic Individuation, the Trinitarian Maternal

It emerged from this Congress that « THE maternal » is something more than the person of the mother. It is constituted not only of the baby’s interactions with the person who acts as his mother but also of the relationship that this « close person » has with that which may serve him as a referent. Might the maternal not then be symbolised in an exemplary way in the Trinitarian model – as a natural prelude to the triangulation of the Œdipus complex itself?
