This paper emphasises that the three presentations are based on Freud’s 1895 text about the Nebenmensch (« fellow human being ») and suggests a reading that introduces the hypothesis of a thirdness established from the origin in the interpsychic encounter between the child and the mother in its interlocutor function beyond its role as agent of satisfaction. It is possible to infer from the Freudian idea that the baby tries to « make himself understood » a specific technique of psychoanalytic work, which is illustrated with a clinical example.
