Impact of the Financial Crisis on Psychoanalytic Work

The author, an Argentinean analyst, draws on some clinical vignettes to examine the impact of both financial and political crises on analytic work, especially in relation to fees, the setting and the analytic process. Although fees correspond to an exchange of time for money, this takes no account of the emotional exchange at the heart of the advancement of the analytic process. She believes that both clinical work and theoretical developments have been affected by the crises and that variations of the setting have proved necessary to preserve the analytic process.
