The author considers some depersonalisation phenomena based on a critique of the concept of substantial identity. This approach makes it possible to imagine a non-pathological outcome of depersonalisation by removing it from the horizon of the ego, interpreting it as a process that builds a metapsychology of the body. A digression concerning the practice of attending to sensations in a Buddhist context offers us a clinical practice independent of the notion of substance. Finally, the author presents some pathways for thinking about analytic practice based on an operative depersonalisation without any pathological interpretations.
