Paternal principle and the gulf between theory and practice

While recognising the reporters’ merits in seeking a transcendent paternal principle, the author opposes a unisexual and asexual vision of the father based only on the model of father–son relations. He returns to the masculine of the father and clearly differentiates the father of a son from the father of a daughter, who do not bring the same problematics into play. He thus tries to restore a connection between theory and practice that is usable in analysis.
