The many, often violent, attacks on psychoanalysis have often been analysed from the perspective of hatred or resistance. The concept of psychophobia can shed light for us on the fear and avoidance it involves of the entire representational world on which psychoanalysis is based. The author puts forward this reflection through the account of an experience of very sudden and violent destruction of a unity of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in a psychiatric environment.
