Keeping the Economy at a Distance: The Case of “Radical” Independent Presses
Type de matériel :
35
Small independent presses having emerged in France over the past 20 years in the field of social critique are an illustration of various “resistance strategies” that characterize the fields of cultural goods, confronted with growing pressures of economic rationality. While economically precarious, these presses exert an influence through their symbolic capital and develop a specific rhetoric staging their “disinterestedness” and the subordination of economic values. This paper will explore the theoretical underpinnings of such heterodox positions.
