With a Heavy Heart, at the Very Quick of the ‘Actual’

The author puts forward a reflection on the ‘actual’ in the treatment of cancer. Based on the psychotherapy of a patient with breast cancer, he seeks to understand the logic by which the opacity of the “actual” contains the active potentiality for its unfolding. Thus, if the ‘actual’ has been established as an apparently frozen time, the processuality of the drives and psychic oscillations remains a recourse in the service of subjectivation. If, during the therapy, the subject emerges from the blank and operative functionings, the melancholic processes and raw aspects relating to sexual excitations will emerge as two interactive poles of the psyche.
