The Consequences of Subcontracting on the Main Contractor’s Employees

Subcontracting is frequently analyzed as part of the dichotomy between the center and its margins. Based on research on the IT department of a transport company, the article aims at showing that this form of organization can also deeply transform the relationship between margin and center. Subcontracting enables the organizing of a trial for the employees of the main contractor, who may be gradually sidelined in their work, to the benefit of the subcontractors.
