Flight forward and Boundary Forms of Mania
Type de matériel :

The psychoanalyst is increasingly confronted with boundary forms of mania. The acute manic fits of classical cyclothymia are often successfully treated with chemotherapy, and only relapses can be prevented by an appropriate analytic psychotherapy. Much more common are attenuated forms of mania that manifest in a triumphant hyperactivity followed by ‘burn out’. This is akin to the problem of hyperactivity in the child, whose systematic treatment with chemotherapy remains to be discussed. Finally, white mania is manifested by a non-euphoric hyperactivity and a dementalisation of the drive, which can generate a psychosomatic complaint.
