Sensation is a process of integration that gives density to the instantaneous and registers the life of a fleeting moment of the world and of oneself. Without it, we lose the taste for life. However the renewed awakening of sensation and its sudden loss may give rise to a sense of terror that is immediately denied through a breakdown of contact with sensoriality. The indifference to sensation after a period of hospitalization, a coma, an early sexual event or a bout of anorexia, call for analysis in order to repair, transform and innnovate a way of listen-ing to the life of sensations on the couch and in hospital that reveals an unconscious trait of resistance in the human being that is capable of thwarting destruction. The complexity of the relations to sensation attest to a reorganizing process of identification that is visible in dreams and artistic practice.
