Becoming aware constitutes a challenge in the analyses of non-neurotic structures. It is desirable therefore to refer to the second Freudian metapsychology and, in particular, to the agency of the unconscious ego. This is likely to function as a veritable psychic crossroads in the case of a paralysis of the preconscious. Some of its characteristics and other technical implications are briefly indicated as a provisional set of guidelines.
